About
I was born a New Yorker, but currently live in New Jersey. I still consider myself a New Yorker, even though my NYC-lifer friends don't see it that way. Being from Brooklyn has a better sound to it than being from New Jersey though, so I'll stick with it.
Photography is primarily a hobby of mine, and it wasn't something I picked up until a few years ago. I started because I saw my friends taking these fantastic food photos and I wanted to try my hand at the same. Of my friends that were seriously into photography, most shot with Canon, so that's what I started with. I was instantly hooked, and within a couple of years, I had gone through G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome, and to some extent, I'm still in it) and flipping over to the Dark Side (Nikon). In fact, some friends ask how many cameras I have, and I say I have enough to cover many different uses.
As I have progressed through the various bits of equipment, I've found that though I don't limit myself to any particular specialty, I mostly shoot with a photojournalistic style and prefer working with natural or on location light as much as possible. For a couple of years, I also worked with the NYC-based chapter of Kollaboration to help aspiring Asian artists find their foothold in the world of entertainment. Through them, I've become proficient at concert and performance photography as well. My work with Kollaboration has been published in a couple of online magazines, which you can view in Publications.
